Now

It is roughly week 1,512 of my life.

  • Doing the final bits of planning and preparation in the run-up to my Turkey holiday.
  • Reading Carmageddon by Daniel Knowles — one of many books that seems to reinforce what I feel I already knew, but with some interesting case studies about why the motor car has ruined our cities.
  • Locked in another trip for next year after finding a very good deal on flights to Sri Lanka. I have absolutely no idea what to expect but we've got almost a year to plan, so not too worried just yet! We went out for a meal at a Sri Lankan restaurant to get some inspiration and that alone has convinced me it'll be a great trip.
  • We've just come out of a horrific week-long heatwave here in the UK. The first one bad enough that it triggered me to buy a portable air conditioning unit. I must admit, I should have bitten that particular bullet much earlier; sleeping in a chilly room under the covers when it's 24 degrees outside overnight is blissful.
  • Did a long slow walk around my neighbourhood this week placing pins on my map where I've identified foraging spots — figs, pears, apples, crabapples, blackberries, lavender, rosemary, and more all abundant and for the taking, without walking more than 20 minutes from home in a relatively built-up area is really quite amazing to me.

This page is inspired by Derek Sivers’ “Now” page, and is meant to be a snapshot of what I'm up to at the moment. You can view my older iterations of this page in the links below.
